A History of Innovation and Success

Maine Machine Products was founded in 1956 by Roland Sutton and Bill Detert when the local metalworking trade was in its infancy. Their engineering degrees and military background laid the groundwork to launch their own precision machining company which, in 1982, Sutton took over complete control.
To ensure a pool of workers qualified for ever-more complex contracts, the company developed a close relationship with Central Maine Community College and established a scholarship program. Since 1974, over half of the scholarship recipients are still employed by the company today.
In 2010, the Sutton family sold MMP to GenNx360 Capital Partners. GenNx360 manages a $600+ million private equity fund dedicated to business-to-business industrial companies. Its partners have worked together for more than two decades and have more than 100 years of combined global operating and portfolio management experience.
